SESSION NO. 06
04/04/2014

READING AND SPEAKING ACTIVITIES:
READ and study the Briefing Chart for LEMG.

Read the poem, dedicated to my friend Manolo Carrión.
Can you choose a word or an expression that summarizes the idea of the poem?

Death is a Matter of Mathematics
Death is a matter of mathematics.
It screeches down at you from dirty white nothingness
And your life is a question of velocity and altitude,
With allowances for wind and the quick, relentless pull
Of gravity
Or else it lies concealed
In that fleecy, peaceful puff of cloud ahead.
A streamlined, muttering vulture, waiting
To swoop upon you with a rush of steel.
And then your chances vary as the curves
Of your parabolas, your banks, your dives,
The scientific soundness of your choice
Of what to push or pull, and how, and when.
                             — Barry Conrad Amiel

In the Desert

In the desert
I saw a creature, naked, bestial,
Who, squatting upon the ground,
Held his heart in his hands,
And ate of it.
I said, “Is it good, friend?”
“It is bitter—bitter,” he answered;

“But I like it
“Because it is bitter,
“And because it is my heart.”

Sunday, February 23, 2014

Hi guys, from now on this blog will be our site to share information, upload files and offer our comments and opinions. I have discarded the facebook group for several reasons and have chosen a blog format instead. Hope you like the design and the accessibility of the info available for our Friday sessions.
Tomorrow I shall upload the materials needed for session no.1. I shared the textbook by a different means, via email.

So welcome to the blog and enjoy the picture we took a couple of weeks ago when preparing our ICAO Proficiency Test. We had fun, a nice lunch. We have to do it again.
